Alessandra Locatelli concludes ‘Prima le persone’ event in Palermo

Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli concluded the fourth stage of the ‘Prima le persone’ initiative in Palermo. The two-day event aimed to highlight local experiences and models that support individuals with disabilities.

During the event, Locatelli emphasized the need for a collective civil and cultural shift to prioritize social issues. She stressed that institutions must work alongside citizens, the private sector, and third-sector organizations to ensure a dignified quality of life for all. Her visit included the inauguration of a new multifunctional center in the Borgo Nuovo district and meetings with various local organizations.

The association ‘I diritti dei più fragili aps’ met with the Minister to present letters from families and caregivers. These documents detailed the daily challenges faced by children, adults, and the elderly with disabilities, as well as the struggles of their caregivers. The discussions also touched upon the ongoing disability reform and the importance of centering families and practical support in policy decisions.
