Alessandro Gentilucci meets with Montefano committee over landfill concerns

The No Discarica Montefano committee met with Alessandro Gentilucci, President of the Province and ATA 3, in Pieve Torina to discuss opposition to a proposed new landfill facility. The committee expressed concerns that the evaluation criteria for selecting sites have been influenced by political logic, specifically noting a reduction in the importance of environmental factors such as the presence of aquifers.

Gentilucci addressed the committee's recent protest in Pieve Torina, stating that the location was inappropriate given that the town is still undergoing reconstruction following a major earthquake and many residents still live in temporary housing. He clarified that the municipality of Pieve Torina holds less than 1% of the decision-making weight within the ATA assembly and that suitable sites were determined by the Università Politecnica delle Marche.

Following the meeting, the committee representatives stated they had finally established a direct dialogue with Gentilucci. The president proposed a visit to the two potential landfill sites to further the discussion.
