Alessandro Romele extends XDS-Astana contract until 2028

Italian cyclist Alessandro Romele has signed a two-year contract extension with the XDS-Astana team, securing his position with the squad through the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

Romele, 23, has emerged as a standout performer during his first Grand Tour appearance at the Vuelta a España. During the first 16 stages of the race, he achieved five top-ten finishes, including a second-place finish in stage 15 behind Wout van Aert. His recent form also includes third-place finishes at the Italian National Championships and a stage of the Tour de Pologne.

Romele joined the Astana structure in 2024 with the development team before moving up to the WorldTour level in 2025. He expressed gratitude to General Manager Alexandr Vinokurov for the opportunity to grow within the project, stating, “I feel that I am improving year after year.”
