Alessandro Stradella Baroque Festival to held in Viterbo and Tuscia
The 2026 edition of the Alessandro Stradella Baroque Festival is scheduled to take place from August 29 to September 27. Centered in Viterbo and the Tuscia region, the festival will feature a diverse program of concerts involving international and Italian ensembles and soloists.
Under the artistic direction of Andrea De Carloe and the honorary presidency of Anna Fendi, this year’s theme is “Confluences.” Performances will be held in historic locations, including the churches of Santa Maria Nuova and San Silvestro in Viterbo, as well as Villa Lante in Bagnaia, Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola, and Palazzo Altieri in Oriolo Romano.
The festival aims to promote Baroque music through research, production, and experimentation, bridging traditional styles with contemporary languages. A central focus is the rediscovery of 17th-century composer Alessandro Stradella, whose life is linked to Nepi. The opening concert, “La dea delle scene,” will feature music by Stradella performed by the Ensemble Mare Nostrum.
