Alessandro Volta biopic begins filming in Friuli Venezia Giulia

Filming has commenced in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region for a new television film centered on the life of scientist Alessandro Volta. Directed by Marco Pontecorvo and produced by Publispei, the production features Matteo Martari in the lead role of the inventor, with Stefano Pesce portraying Luigi Volta.

The narrative begins in the summer of 1794, following Volta’s personal life and his intense romance with opera singer Marianna Paris. Set against the backdrop of European revolutionary wars and shifting research funding, the film depicts Volta’s scientific rivalry with Luigi Galvani and his eventual invention of the electric battery.

Production is scheduled to take place in the region from August 24 to September 22, utilizing locations such as Udine, San Vito al Tagliamento, and Strassoldo, as well as various Venetian villas. Udine will serve as the production's logistical base. Following the shoot in Friuli Venezia Giulia, filming will move to Como.
