Alessia Russo named England Women’s Player of the Year

Alessia Russo has been named the England Women’s Player of the Year for the 2025–26 season. The award, decided by a public vote from supporters, marks the second time the Arsenal forward has received the honor, having previously won in the 2023–24 campaign.

Russo finished ahead of Chelsea players Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton in the fan vote. Her selection follows a strong domestic and international season; she was the top English scorer in the Women’s Super League with 13 goals and six assists, helping Arsenal secure Champions League qualification.

On the international stage, Russo appeared in all 10 of England's fixtures last season, scoring five goals. This includes three goals during the 2027 World Cup qualifying group stage. The announcement comes as the England national team prepares for the second leg of their 2027 World Cup play-off against Greece.
