Alevi Intellectuals Declaration reaches 97 signatories

The number of signatories for the ‘Alevi Aydınlar Bildirgesi’ (Alevi Intellectuals Declaration) has reached 97 following the addition of 44 new names. The signatories include writers, academics, artists, and members of various Alevi and Bektashi lineages (ocaks).

The declaration expresses concern regarding historical references to Yavuz Selim and İdris-i Bitlisi, stating, “We reject the archaic and bloody alliance referenced by Yavuz Selim and İdris-i Bitlisi.” The new supporters, representing various lineages such as Hızır Şamut Baba, Sultan Sinemilli, and Kureşan, have voiced support for the demands outlined in the original document to promote lasting peace, tranquility, and brotherhood.
