Alex Allegretto sentenced for upskirting incident in Cardiff shopping centre

Alex Allegretto, a 39-year-old man from Maesteg, has been sentenced at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court following an upskirting incident at the St David’s 2 shopping centre in Cardiff. The offence occurred on the morning of July 7, 2026, when Allegretto used a mobile phone to film beneath a young girl’s clothing for sexual gratification.

South Wales Police identified Allegretto by using extensive CCTV footage to track his movements from the shopping centre to a vehicle parked on Fitzalan Road. He was subsequently arrested at his home address four days after the incident. Allegretto pleaded guilty to the offence.

As part of his sentence, Allegretto must complete 140 hours of unpaid work and fulfill Rehabilitation Activity Requirements. He is also required to register with the police for five years under the Sexual Offences Act 2003. Detectives noted that the incident has caused the victim significant anxiety and distress.
