Alex Carey to play 50th Test match against Bangladesh

Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey is set to play his 50th Test match this Saturday in Mackay during the second Test against Bangladesh. Since his debut in the 2021-22 Ashes series, Carey has not missed a Test match.

Carey has evolved into a versatile player, noted for both his elite glovework and significant improvements in batting. A major turning point in his career occurred during the 2024 Test in Christchurch, where he scored an unbeaten 98 to help Australia secure a three-wicket victory in a record run chase against New Zealand.

While Carey primarily operates as a wicketkeeper, his batting statistics have seen substantial growth, including a Test average of 62 when batting at number six. He has recently moved up in the batting order, having previously played mostly at number seven.
