Alex Cooper poised to leave UTA amid Unwell expansion

Podcaster and media entrepreneur Alex Cooper is reportedly preparing to end her relationship with United Talent Agency (UTA). UTA has played a significant role in scaling Cooper’s production company, Unwell, helping to broker major deals including hosting interviews for Peacock during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The potential move comes as Unwell expands its operations. The company, founded by Cooper and her husband Matt Kaplan, recently secured its first outside investment from Patrick Whitesell’s firm, WTSL. This investment values Unwell at $500 million. The company, which targets Gen Z women, reported being profitable since its inception in 2023.

Industry observers suggest this shift may reflect a broader trend in the creator economy, where high-profile talent moves toward independent ownership and internalizing operations to maximize brand value and control revenue streams.
