Alex de Minaur misses ATP Finals qualification after Paris Masters loss

Alex de Minaur ATP Finals Paris Masters Tomas Martin Etcheverry tennis

Alex de Minaur has been eliminated from contention for the season-ending ATP Finals following a second-round defeat at the Paris Masters. The world No. 9 lost to Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3.

Despite a productive indoor campaign in Europe, including a final appearance in Vienna where he defeated Alexander Zverev, the loss in Paris ended his hopes of qualifying for the tournament in Turin. De Minaur has participated in the exclusive year-end event for the past two seasons.

The Paris Masters saw several major upsets, including a victory by fellow Australian Rinky Hijikata over Novak Djokovic. Hijikata, who overcame a neck injury, defeated Djokovic 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, which also ruled the Serbian player out of the ATP Finals.
