Alex Eala leads WTA in matches played this season

Filipino tennis player Alex Eala has played more WTA tour-level matches than any other player this season, totaling 56 matches across 21 tournaments in an eight-month period. This high level of activity follows her recent climb to a career-high World No. 20 ranking.

Eala’s recent successes include winning the Mubadala DC Open, her first WTA Tour title, and securing a second WTA 125 title at the Birmingham Open. She also achieved a historic Wimbledon round of 16 finish, marking the best Grand Slam singles result for a Filipino player.

Despite her momentum, the intense schedule has presented challenges, including an ankle injury sustained during the Canadian Open. Eala is currently preparing for the US Open and the upcoming Singapore Open.
