Filipino tennis star Alex Eala, seeded 17th, will face American qualifier Mary Stoiana in the opening round of the 2026 US Open. The matchup is a rematch of their 2024 encounter in Pennsylvania, where Eala won in straight sets.

Stoiana, ranked No. 122, secured her spot in the main draw after defeating China's Yue Yuan in the final qualifying round. A former standout in collegiate tennis, Stoiana was the 2024 ITA National Player of the Year and led Texas A&M to an NCAA championship.
