Alex Gibney’s Musk documentary earns 100% critic score

The documentary ‘Musk’, directed by Oscar winner Alex Gibney, has achieved a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes following its premiere at the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals. The film traces Elon Musk’s trajectory from a Silicon Valley entrepreneur to the world’s wealthiest individual, covering his leadership at Tesla and SpaceX, his acquisition of Twitter (now X), and his influence on contemporary politics.

Elon Musk has vehemently criticized the film, engaging in personal attacks against Gibney and involving legal counsel. Musk has alleged that the documentary works backward from a negative conclusion and relies on testimonies from individuals with limited knowledge of his life. Notably, Musk did not participate in interviews; instead, the film utilizes a CGI avatar and AI voice syncing to recreate an interview based on his public statements.

The documentary is scheduled for release in New York and Los Angeles on October 9, with a nationwide US release on October 16, 2026, via Bleecker Street. It is expected to arrive on HBO in the first quarter of 2027.
