Alex Gimenez, Boston Bruins executive, has died

The Boston Bruins have announced the death of Alex Gimenez, who joined the organization in July as the Director of Hockey Operations, Collective Bargaining Agreement. The team did not disclose a cause of death or his age.

Gimenez was tasked with overseeing contract negotiations, salary cap management, CBA compliance, and player acquisition strategy. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney expressed deep sadness, stating that Gimenez’s “intelligence, thoughtfulness and character were evident from the moment he joined us.”

Prior to his time with the Bruins, Gimenez served as the manager of hockey analytics and strategy for the Professional Women’s Hockey League. He also spent over a decade with the Boston Red Sox in various baseball operations roles, including serving as assistant director of major league operations and pro scouting. The Red Sox issued a statement describing him as an “integral member of our baseball operations for over a decade.”
