Alex Iwobi matches Mohamed Salah for most Premier League appearances by an African player

Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has reached 328 Premier League appearances, moving him into joint-second place among African players in the competition's history alongside Egypt's Mohamed Salah.

Iwobi achieved the milestone during Fulham's 1-0 victory over Coventry City. He now sits 25 matches behind the all-time record held by former Ivory Coast international Kolo Touré, who made 353 appearances. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) issued a statement congratulating the 30-year-old, with Acting General Secretary Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme expressing hope that Iwobi would eventually claim the record outright.

In addition to his club milestone, Iwobi recently earned his 100th cap for the Nigerian national team during a summer friendly against Portugal. His career includes one silver and two bronze medals from the Africa Cup of Nations.
