Alex Jones warns of potential government seizure of XRP holdings
Commentator Alex Jones has claimed that the U.S. government could potentially seize XRP holdings, citing what he described as a “chilling FDIC admission.” Jones suggested that XRP is being positioned by global institutions as a central mechanism for an overhaul of the international monetary system, predicting a scenario of “overnight repricing” rather than gradual value shifts.
Jones also raised concerns regarding a potential “bail-in” scenario involving a unified global ledger, referencing organizations such as the IMF, World Bank, and the Bank for International Settlements. However, no specific official policy documents or public FDIC statements have been identified to confirm a coordinated plan to seize privately held XRP.
Members of the XRP community have challenged these claims. An XRP Ledger validator, known as Vet, argued that the government cannot seize XRP held in self-custody because the individual maintains sole control via private keys. Critics also noted that the concept of sudden, large-scale revaluation lacks evidence from Ripple or financial regulators.
