Alex Márquez skips Q2 at Assen on brother Marc's advice, finishes fifth
Spanish rider Alex Márquez chose not to take part in the Q2 session at the Assen MotoGP weekend after his brother Marc intervened. Recovering from a clavicle fracture and a cervical vertebra injury sustained in Barcelona, Alex was urged by his team and Marc to avoid the risk of another crash. He obeyed, reserving his effort for the Sprint race and the main Sunday race. The decision proved effective: he finished 13th in the Sprint and rose to fifth place in the Sunday race, ahead of Marc.
Alex said the experience highlighted the importance of respecting one's physical limits and returning to competition at the right time.
