Alex Otti Foundation awards scholarships to 81 students

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced the seventh cohort of the Alex Otti Foundation Scholarship Scheme, which has selected 81 beneficiaries from a pool of over 5,000 applicants. The program, which has been active since 2009, is designed to provide financial assistance to academically outstanding students in need.

During the 2026 Scholarship Banquet in Umuahia, Governor Otti introduced a new incentive for high achievers, announcing a cash reward of ₦500,000 for each scholar who graduates with a first-class degree. Six graduates have already been identified for this reward, including those currently participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation.

The Governor emphasized that the selection process is strictly merit-based and intended to support students who can demonstrate both academic excellence and financial necessity. He encouraged the scholars to maintain high standards and recognize the societal responsibilities that accompany their academic success.
