Alex Palou clinches second Indy 500 pole at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Álex Palou, the four‑time IndyCar champion driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, secured his second pole position for the Indianapolis 500. After an early qualifying run that left him 31st out of 33 cars due to a hot track, Palou posted a combined average speed of 232.248 mph (373.7 km/h) in the Fast 12 session, edging out Felix Rosenqvist by a narrow margin. His fastest lap was recorded at 232.848 mph, giving him the pole and a $100,000 prize.
Palou’s performance came after advancing from 11th in the initial Fast 6 round and navigating challenging tire grip as the track temperature rose. The Ganassi team praised the car’s pace, noting that the driver “didn’t expect such speed.” With the pole secured, Palou now looks to convert the advantage into a possible back‑to‑back Indy 500 victory.
The event took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the United States, marking the 110th running of the race.
