Alex Palou penalized for Indy 500 front‑wing violation
IndyCar officials determined that Alex Palou's No. 10 car did not comply with technical specifications for the front wing after the Indianapolis 500. The rules require the front wing to measure at least 8.300 inches on the inspection fixture at any angle.
As a result, Palou received a five‑point driver penalty, the entry was docked ten entrant points, and Chip Ganassi Racing was fined US$10,000. Palou was allowed to keep his seventh‑place finish and no other positions were altered. Officials described the non‑compliance as an assembly error rather than an intentional modification. Chip Ganassi Racing accepted the sanction, attributing the issue to a part failure in the wing assembly. The penalty left Palou still leading the championship, 37 points ahead of Indy 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist.
