Alex Pereira rules out boxing move due to UFC contract
UFC heavyweight Alex Pereira has stated that a transition to professional boxing is ‘kind of impossible’ due to his age and remaining contractual obligations. The 39-year-old Brazilian fighter currently has seven fights left on an eight-bout agreement signed in March 2026.
Following a second-round knockout loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250, Pereira remains focused on his goal of becoming the UFC’s first three-division champion. While he has previously expressed interest in boxing and identified potential opponents like Oleksandr Usyk, his current priority is fulfilling his UFC contract.
In upcoming action, Pereira is scheduled to face Sergei Pavlovich in a five-round heavyweight bout. This fight will serve as the co-main event for UFC 335 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on December 12, and is viewed as a potential title eliminator.
