Alex Remiro draws interest from Barcelona and Aston Villa as transfer window heats up

Barcelona and Premier League side Aston Villa are reportedly pursuing Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro. The 31‑year‑old, who has made over 300 appearances for Sociedad, could be available for roughly €12 million (£9 million) as his contract runs until 2027.

Barcelona view Remiro as a strong backup for Joan Garcia, especially after the expected departure of Marc‑Andre Ter Stegen, but he may have to accept a secondary role. Aston Villa, under Unai Emery, see him as a potential first‑choice if Emiliano Martínez leaves. Other English clubs such as Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Napoli have also been linked to the keeper.

The interest comes as Barcelona rebuild after losing Bernardo Silva, while Villa aim to strengthen their squad following recent European success.
