Alex Schwazer doping case faces scrutiny over sample handling

International race walking judge Stefano La Sorda has raised concerns regarding the anti-doping procedures in the case of Alex Schwazer. Following a race in Germany on April 26, where Schwazer set a new Italian record, an official notification of a positive test for EPO was received on June 22.

La Sorda described the situation as an aberration, specifically highlighting an anomaly regarding the handling of urine samples. He noted reports that an inspector allegedly allowed a portion of a sample to be taken away during the control process, an action he characterized as a violation of standard regulations.
