While Alex Van Halen spoke positively about David Lee Roth’s memoir, describing it as an “interesting perspective,” he expressed a refusal to engage with Hagar’s 2011 book, “Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock.”

Hagar responded to the comments via Instagram, stating that the insult was “unnecessary at this time in our lives,” while adding, “I guess the truth hurts sometimes.” The exchange highlights long-standing tensions between the former bandmates, who have reportedly not spoken for over two decades. Alex Van Halen previously declined to participate in Hagar’s “Best of All Worlds” tour, stating that the performers were “not doing the band justice.”
