Alex Van Halen memoir to include unreleased 1974 demo

Genesis Publications has announced a limited-edition memoir titled ‘Van Halen’ by drummer Alex Van Halen. The book will be released in 1,500 signed copies housed in a silver-logo clamshell box.

The release includes a 7-inch vinyl picture disc featuring the track ‘Glitter,’ a previously unreleased 1974 demo recording. This track marks the earliest official release of Van Halen material, recorded with original bassist Mark Stone before his replacement by Michael Anthony. The vinyl will also feature a spoken-word recording from Alex Van Halen.

The 312-page book utilizes private archives to document the band’s history, from the Van Halen brothers’ arrival in California from Holland to their 1978 debut and the success of their 1984 album. It contains photography, correspondence, tour memorabilia, and other archival materials.
