Alexander Afenyo-Markin denies existence of compromising videos

Ghanaian Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has denied allegations regarding the existence of compromising videos and addressed his ongoing dispute with Sammy Gyamfi, the CEO of GoldBod.

During a visit from Asafo groups at his Accra residence on August 31, 2026, Afenyo-Markin dismissed claims that any footage exists of him engaging in conduct that would embarrass himself, his family, or the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He noted that politicians must accept the scrutiny inherent in the social media era.

The dispute involves a defamation lawsuit filed by Afenyo-Markin against Gyamfi and three others following accusations that the Minority Leader is an “extortionist” attempting to pressure the state-owned gold trading company. While Afenyo-Markin maintained in a press briefing that his criticisms are directed at GoldBod as an institution rather than individuals, footage circulated showing him dancing while the visiting groups chanted lyrics specifically naming Gyamfi in relation to gold trading losses.
