Ghana politics: NDC internal disputes and warnings of 2028 disinformation

Political tensions are rising in Ghana as various leaders and party members address internal disputes and future electoral strategies. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, a leading figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has warned that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) may employ misinformation and disinformation campaigns to distract the public from unfulfilled promises ahead of the 2028 elections.

In the Ashanti Region, NDC supporters in Kwadaso staged a demonstration demanding the removal of Municipal Chief Executive Eric Asibey. Protesters accused Asibey of failing to engage grassroots structures and raised concerns regarding the distribution of resources under the Nkoko Nketekete initiative. Asibey has rejected these claims, stating they lack evidence.

Additionally, New Juaben South MP Michael Okyere Baafi criticized the NDC government for its handling of fuel prices, accusing the party of using propaganda and contradicting its previous stances on international factors affecting energy costs. Meanwhile, in Suaman, NDC hopeful Evans Ganyo attributed the party's previous parliamentary loss to internal divisions, calling for unity to reclaim the seat in 2028.
