Alexander brothers face life sentences in New York sex trafficking case
Federal prosecutors in New York have requested life sentences for luxury real estate brokers Oren and Alon Alexander, along with their brother Tal Alexander. The trio was convicted in March on multiple charges, including sex trafficking, following allegations of drugging and raping dozens of women over a period spanning two decades.
Prosecutors identified at least 70 victims who were allegedly raped or sexually assaulted by at least one of the defendants. The government stated that the brothers developed a pattern of enticing women to luxury getaways before assaulting them. While the sex trafficking conviction carries a mandatory minimum of 15 years, prosecutors argued for life imprisonment, describing the defendants as “serial rapists.”
Defense attorneys have recommended 15-year terms. While the lawyers noted the brothers apologize for conduct described as “insensitive toward the feelings of certain women at certain times,” they maintained that all three “steadfastly maintain their complete innocence of these awful charges.” Sentencing is scheduled for October 27.
