Alexander Bublik skips Cincinnati Masters to attend son’s birthday

Kazakh tennis player Alexander Bublik has confirmed that he will not compete in the upcoming Cincinnati Masters, marking the fifth consecutive year he skips the tournament. He said the event falls on his son’s birthday and that family moments outweigh the importance of the Masters 1000 stop.

Bublik, currently ranked No. 11 in the world, also opted out of the Canadian Masters in Montreal earlier in the season. After playing his most recent event at the ATP 250 in Los Cabos, he plans to appear only at the US Open, entering the final Grand Slam of the year without the usual hard‑court preparation.

The decision reflects Bublik’s long‑standing preference to prioritize personal commitments over additional ranking points, a stance he has maintained since his last appearance in Cincinnati in 2021.
