Alexander Cornielle debuts for New York Yankees

Dominican pitcher Alexander Cornielle made his Major League Baseball debut with the New York Yankees on September 25, 2026, in a 6-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Appearing as a reliever in the ninth inning under rainy and windy conditions, the 25-year-old from Santo Domingo threw 34 pitches, allowing two earned runs and three hits while striking out two batters.

Cornielle joined the Yankees after signing a minor league contract in December 2025, following a professional career that began in the Milwaukee Brewers organization in 2019. He is a member of the Tigres del Licey in the LIDOM. His debut marks the 991st time a player from the Dominican Republic has appeared in the Major Leagues and the 31st Dominican debut of the 2026 season.
