Alexander Dennis wins £57m bus contract for Liverpool City Region

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has selected Alexander Dennis to supply at least 207 new low and zero-emission buses for its expanding Metro Bus network. The firm order is valued at £57 million and includes 117 low-emission Enviro400 double-deckers, 60 Enviro200 single-deckers, and 30 zero-emission Enviro100EV buses.

Options within the contract could increase the total number of vehicles to 357, representing a potential investment of £95 million. The new fleet is scheduled for delivery in 2027 and will join existing low-emission and electric buses already procured for the region's franchised services in areas such as St Helens and the Wirral.

The new low-emission models will utilize SmartPack efficiency technology to reduce emissions by between 18% and 24%. All vehicles will be built or completed in UK factories located in Scotland and the North of England. Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, stated the goal is to create an integrated transport network that serves the region's 1.6 million residents.
