Alexander Dushku urges BYU students to choose faith

Elder Alexander Dushku, General Counsel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, delivered a devotional address to students at Brigham Young University (BYU) on September 22, 2026.

During his speech, Dushku emphasized the importance of daily agency and making intentional spiritual choices. He used the historical example of Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon to illustrate the concept of making decisive, irreversible commitments. Dushku urged students to “cross the Rubicon of faith” and to choose Christ daily over worldly influences, noting that such commitment becomes easier as one grows to know the figure more fully.
