Alexander Harrington charged with murder in Florida stabbing

Alexander Harrington, 50, has been charged with first-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of his 77-year-old mother, Susan Baratto, at their Delray Beach, Florida, home.

According to authorities, Harrington called police around 2 p.m. on a Friday to report the killing. Deputies arriving at the scene found Baratto in the living room with multiple stab wounds; she was pronounced dead at the scene. A knife was discovered near her body. Harrington, who sustained a cut to his arm, allegedly admitted to paramedics and investigators that he had killed his mother.

Harrington, who describes himself on social media as a life coach and ‘intuitive healer,’ had posted a video the previous day discussing the importance of forgiveness and letting go of past grievances. While a motive has not been established, Harrington reportedly informed investigators that he has been sober since 2007 and has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder.
