Thomas Gottschalk says he is cancer‑free after operations and therapy
German TV legend Thomas Gottschalk announced on Instagram that he is currently cancer‑free. After two surgeries, 33 radiotherapy sessions and a three‑week rehabilitation programme, his latest PET scan showed no remaining cancer cells.
Gottschalk is taking part in an experimental immunotherapy trial at the University of Greifswald, receiving a series of twelve cancer‑vaccinations; eight injections have already been administered. He thanked his wife Karina for her constant support, noting that without her he “could not have managed everything.”
In his video update he also shared personal moments from the past months – gardening at home, a weekend trip to Paris to see the ballet “Die Kameliendame,” and celebrating his birthday with family on Lago Maggiore and at the Vierwaldstättersee. He completed a three‑week rehab stay at the Osterseen near the Starnberger See and now follows a regular fitness routine with a personal trainer. Follow‑up examinations are scheduled every three months, and he plans to keep a low public profile for the foreseeable future.
