Liverpool faces injury crisis ahead of Manchester City clash

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has confirmed that attackers Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo will miss the upcoming Premier League match against Manchester City at Anfield. Both players sustained injuries during the international break; Isak suffered a thigh injury while playing for Sweden, and Gakpo sustained an ankle injury during a match for the Netherlands.

Despite these setbacks, Liverpool received a boost as defender Jérémy Jacquet and forward Federico Chiesa have returned to training. Jacquet is recovering from a hamstring strain, while Chiesa is working toward his first competitive appearance of the season following a back injury.

Merseyside Police have announced an appropriate policing operation for the fixture to ensure safety, noting the high-profile nature of the match. The game comes amid heightened tension following Manchester City's recent guilty verdict regarding Premier League financial regulation breaches, a matter the club is currently appealing.
