Alexander Malofeev receives acclaim at Salzburg Festival and La Roque-d’Anthéron
Pianist Alexander Malofeev has received significant acclaim following recent performances at the Salzburg Festival and La Roque-d’Anthéron. At the Salzburg Festival, Malofeev performed an ambitious program at the Mozarteum, featuring works by Schubert, Grieg, Sibelius, Scriabin, Arthur Lourié, and Rachmaninov. His interpretation of Rachmaninov’s Second Piano Sonata was noted for its intensity and virtuosity, drawing strong reactions from the audience.
In La Roque-d’Anthéron, the Moscow-born, Berlin-based artist revisited the location of his early career. His performance included Schubert’s Klavierstücke D. 946 and Grieg’s Holberg Suite. Malofeev, a Sony Classical artist, released his first studio album, ‘Forgotten Melodies’, in early 2026, which focuses on Russian composers marked by themes of nostalgia and exile.
