Alexander McQueen creative director Seán McGirr departs

Kering has announced that Seán McGirr is stepping down as the creative director of Alexander McQueen after a three-year tenure. McGirr, an Irish designer, originally joined the fashion house in October 2023 to succeed Sarah Burton.

Kering CEO Luca de Meo expressed gratitude for McGirr’s dedication and stated the company intends to establish “a bold new direction for the house” by focusing on its heritage of tailoring, creativity, and rebellion. Gianfranco D’Attis, president and CEO of McQueen, noted that McGirr helped reconnect the brand with London’s creative energy.

The fashion house will announce a new creative leader in the near future. The successor is expected to make their debut in London, where McQueen has committed to holding its runway presentations starting with the Spring/Summer 2027 collection.
