Alexander Nikishin seeks trade from Carolina Hurricanes

Alexander Nikishin, a 24-year-old restricted free agent defenseman for the Carolina Hurricanes, is seeking a trade from the team. Despite a successful first full season, Nikishin reportedly does not believe he is a fit for the organization and has not signed a contract for the upcoming season.

While there has been speculation regarding a potential return to the KHL, Nikishin’s agent, Alexander Chernykh, has denied these reports, stating that Nikishin has no intention of returning to the Russian league. Hurricanes General Manager Eric Tulsky has expressed a desire to keep contract and trade discussions private.

The standoff has led to various trade scenarios, including potential links to Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. Although several teams have shown interest in Nikishin, the Hurricanes have reportedly been unwilling to move him at this time.
