Alexander Ogando seeks training access at Félix Sánchez Stadium
Dominican sprinter Alexander Ogando has publicly denounced restrictions preventing him from training at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium. Ogando, an Olympic medalist and national 200m record holder, expressed concern that these limitations could hinder his preparation for the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
In response to the complaint, Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz announced that high-performance athletes with international commitments will be granted priority access to the facilities. Cruz clarified that while the main track is being reserved exclusively for high-level competitions to ensure its preservation, exceptions will be made for athletes preparing for global events.
The stadium is currently undergoing remodeling and maintenance work. To facilitate training, officials are working to rehabilitate the warm-up track, which will serve as the designated area for sprinter practice during the renovation period.
