Alexander Vindman to donate millions after Florida primary loss

Following a primary loss to state Representative Angie Nixon, former National Security Council official Alexander Vindman announced plans to distribute millions of dollars in remaining campaign funds. Vindman, who raised over $16 million, has already committed a $400,000 donation to the Florida Democratic Party to support various statewide and federal candidates. He stated the goal is to help elect Democrats and ‘put a check on Donald Trump’s power.’

The primary victory for Nixon has also highlighted internal tensions within the Florida Democratic Party. Reports indicate a heated disagreement occurred between Nixon and state party chair Nikki Fried regarding Nixon’s membership in the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). While Fried reportedly expressed concerns that Nixon’s ties to the DSA could provide political ammunition for the GOP, Nixon expressed frustration over a perceived lack of support from the state party leadership.
