Alexander Volkanovski proposes super fight and retirement bout with Justin Gaethje

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has proposed a ‘super fight’ against lightweight champion Justin Gaethje that could serve as a double retirement bout for both athletes.

Volkanovski clarified his comments regarding retirement, stating that while he does not mean his very next fight must be his last, he would be open to a final showdown with Gaethje before vacating his belts and retiring. He suggested that such a ‘fairytale super fight’ would allow both divisions to move forward without being held up by their champions.

Gaethje, who recently secured the lightweight title after defeating Ilia Topuria, has not yet confirmed his future plans in the Octagon. Volkanovski is currently preparing for a featherweight title defense against Movsar Evloev at UFC 333.
