Alexander Zverev names Novak Djokovic his toughest rival, weighs in on Alcaraz and Sinner

German tennis star Alexander Zverev said that Novak Djokovic is the most challenging opponent he has ever faced, noting the Serbian’s record of beating him more often than any other player. Zverev added that matches against Carlos Alcaraz are “always amazing and fun,” and he enjoys the high‑level battles they produce.

He also highlighted a stark contrast with Jannik Sinner, stating that the Italian has become a “barrier he cannot get past,” having lost eleven of their recent encounters, including a recent Wimbledon final. Zverev recalled earlier career wins over Roger Federer, saying he once “could play even faster than him,” but emphasized that his current toughest test remains Djokovic despite Sinner’s recent dominance.

These comments were made in an interview with Polish outlet Sport1, reflecting Zverev’s perspective on the current hierarchy of men’s tennis.
