The Davis Cup qualifying tie between Germany and Croatia in Halle has reached a 1-1 deadlock after the first day of play. Alexander Zverev opened the scoring for Germany with a 6-4, 7-6 (3) victory over Croatia's Matej Dodig. Despite Dodig's strong resistance, Zverev's experience secured the win.
Croatia responded through Dino Prižmić, who defeated Daniel Altmaier 6-4, 6-3 to level the tie. The match remains undecided, with the final outcome to be determined on Sunday through doubles and remaining singles matches. The winner will secure a spot in the Davis Cup Final 8 in Bologna.
