Filipina teenager Alex Eala captured her first WTA Tour‑level singles title at the Mubadala DC Open in Washington, defeating world No. 3 Jessica Pegula 4‑6, 6‑4, 6‑0. The victory made her the first player from the Philippines to win a WTA Tour title and lifted her to a career‑high world No. 20. Eala earned US$252,000 and 500 ranking points, raising her season earnings to over $1.5 million.
