Alexandra Sasnovich advances to WTA-500 round of 16 in Tokyo

Belarusian tennis player Alexandra Sasnovich has reached the round of 16 at the WTA-500 tournament in Tokyo. After progressing through the qualifying rounds by defeating Yulia Starodubtseva and Kamilla Rakhimova, Sasnovich faced Czech player Nikola Bartůnková in the first round of the main draw.

Sasnovich, ranked 112th in the WTA, secured a victory over the 29th-ranked Bartůnková with a score of 6:4, 6:7 (5:7), 6:3. Her next opponent in the second round will be Russia's Diana Shnaider. The tournament, which concludes on November 1, features a total prize pool exceeding $1.2 million, with the winner set to receive 500 ranking points and over $185,000.
