Alexandre Borges sparks debate with scores on Dança dos Famosos

Actor Alexandre Borges has sparked debate on social media following his appearance as an artistic judge on the Brazilian television program ‘Dança dos Famosos’. Unlike typical artistic judges who frequently award maximum scores, Borges issued ratings below 10 for several contestants during the forró round, including a 9.5 for Pedro Scooby and a 9.7 for Junno Andrade.

Presenter Ticiane Pinheiro criticized the approach, arguing that the role of the artistic judge is to support and encourage participants rather than provide rigorous critiques. She noted that because competitors have very limited rehearsal time, the artistic jury should focus on “supporting, boosting self-esteem, and promoting new work,” leaving technical evaluations to the technical jury.

The unconventional scoring has led to significant online discussion, with viewers questioning whether the artistic jury's primary function is to provide high scores or offer sincere assessments.
