Alexandre Mendes, Grêmio assistant coach, released from detention

A court has revoked the preventive detention of Alexandre Mendes, an assistant coach for the Grêmio football club. Mendes was detained on Thursday following allegations that he violated a protective order issued by his former partner.

Mendes' defense team has denied the accusations, stating that he was merely in the same public space as his ex-partner at the Expointer exhibition center. The defense maintains there was no intention of approaching her and has requested the release of telephone records to use geographic data to prove their position at the time of the alleged incident.

Prior to the revocation, Mendes was held at the Canoas I State Penitentiary. Legal representatives for both Mendes and Grêmio worked to secure his release, arguing that the accusations were false and that no violation of the protective measure had occurred.
