Northampton Town acquired by Sports Alpha Capital consortium

The investment group Sports Alpha Capital has completed the acquisition of a 70% stake in Northampton Town Football Club, a team currently competing in the English Football League Two. The consortium is led by co-founders João Xavier and Tim Chamberlain, with former Brazilian international footballer Alexandre Pato joining the board of directors.

The previous majority owners, including David Bower, Nigel Le Quesne, and Kelvin Thomas, will retain a combined 30% stake in the club. The acquisition, which received approval from the English Football League (EFL) and the Independent Football Regulator (IFR), arrives as the club enters a period of restructuring following its relegation from League One.

According to the new management, the club is entering this new chapter in a debt-free state. The consortium has expressed intentions to pursue ambitious growth plans while prioritizing financial sustainability and maintaining a strong connection to the local Northamptonshire community.
