Alexandre Pato joins investment group for Northampton Town

Former Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato has joined a group of investors to acquire shares in the English football club Northampton Town. The deal has received necessary regulatory approvals from the Independent Football Regulator (IFR) and the English Football League (EFL).

Pato is a partner in the investment management firm Sports Alpha Capital (SAC), which also includes London-based Gemcorp Capital. While the specific percentage of ownership and the total value of the transaction have not yet been disclosed, the investment is expected to be finalized once documentation is complete.

Northampton Town currently competes in League Two, the fourth tier of English football. The club is facing significant challenges, including a recent relegation and reported financial losses of approximately £3 million. The arrival of the new investment group is viewed as a potential solution to address the club's debts and operational stability.
